Essex is a suburb of Baltimore located in Baltimore County. Living in Essex offers residents a dense suburban feel and most residents own their homes. This town offers a lot of bars and parks attracting many families to live in Essex.
Originally, Essex was ten blocks, running from Mace Avenue to Marlyn Avenue. It was founded in 1909 by the Taylor Land Company for those residents in Baltimore who wanted a place outside the city limits to perhaps grow a garden or to pursue some other rural activity. Land was cheap, and sales were enhanced by a promotional pamphlet.
Today, the residents love this old neighborhood for its serenity and close proximity to the water and the city. The town is scattered with local shops but the city is easily accessible via I-95. Essex is a quiet waterfront area where residents are able to walk out at night alone and the only thing you’ll worry about is the mosquitoes!
